Cruisin’ with KoHoSo One-Month Hiatus

For those that missed my announcement during last week’s Cruisin’ with KoHoSo or did not see it on our Facebook and Twitter feeds, I am putting the program on a one-month hiatus. The show will return on Christmas weekend with the Christmas Cruisin’ with KoHoSo special running at its regular times plus a special early-bird premiere on Friday, December 22nd at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time, noon Eastern Standard Time, 1700 UTC.

There will be another program on New Year’s weekend. This will also run on the usual days and times with any extra runs still to be determined.

After those two shows…well, that is still in question. I might reduce the schedule, have the program only be occasional specials, or put it on an even longer hiatus.

After having produced Cruisin’ with KoHoSo for three straight months, I have found I simply cannot get all of the organizing, research, and recording done in less than two or three days…and, of course, all around my regular job. The problem is that those are often the only two or three free days I have.

With Cruisin’ with KoHoSo taking up so much of my free time, KoHoSo Radio 66 as a whole has suffered for it. Doing a weekly show is taking up all the time I would otherwise use for adding new music, jingles, and IDs so the station does not become stale.

Despite the fact KoHoSo Radio 66 has my "name" and voice all over it, my intent from day one is for the music and its overall presentation to be the star…not me. While I have gotten a great deal of enjoyment out of returning to the mic for the first time in over 20 years, I would rather step away from my three hours of personal glory every week so the remaining 165 hours of programming live up to my promise of making KoHoSo Radio 66 the best oldies station that has ever existed.

I hope those of you that really looked forward to Cruisin’ with KoHoSo every week will understand why it needs to stop for at least a month if not longer. During the time off, I will try to think of ways I can make each program in less time while still having it be entertaining…and I promise to keep playing the lottery so maybe running KoHoSo Radio 66 could someday be my only job.
