Upcoming Cruisin’ with KoHoSo Programming Notes

I have completed all the preparations for the Cruisin’ with KoHoSo Halloween Special. This includes scheduling it to run an extra time in addition to the usual Saturday/Sunday/Monday airings. To accompany your fun on the actual night of the holiday, the program will also run on Halloween night (Tuesday) at 6:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time/9:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.

It was certainly a sad thing to hear on NPR News coming to work this morning that the great Fats Domino passed away on Tuesday at age 89. It is sad to think that the inevitable march of time leaves Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis as the only remaining big stars from the original wave of rock & roll.

Fats Domino was amazing for many reasons but one was his longevity in being able to put a song on the sales charts. I feel it is only fitting that the next "open" Cruisin’ with KoHoSo be filled with nothing but his music. This will be the show that runs November 4th, 5th, and 6th.

For the program following the salute to Fats Domino, under consideration is an absolute free-for-all show. With all of the episodes of Cruisin’ with KoHoSo so far having come with various themed sets, I’m considering this not only as a break for my brain but also an opportunity to look over my collection and get in artists that have not yet been featured. That being said, I am always open not only to individual song requests but ideas for sets and entire shows as well. If you have one, get over to the Contact page and send it to me. If your idea creates enough inspiration, I just might postpone the free-for-all show to another date.

While KoHoSo Radio 66 is a commercial-free radio station where "ratings" don’t matter, it was still extremely gratifying to see last week’s Cruisin’ with KoHoSo — the one with the ocean/California/traveling theme — had the most listeners at one time in the show’s brief history. I also find it sort of amusing as I felt I sounded a bit listless…something I also found disappointing as I still try to find my "sea legs" again as a disk jockey.

However, having already prepared the Cruisin’ with KoHoSo Halloween Special, I think it turned out much better for the parts when you have to listen to me instead of music. While a sillier-than-normal program, it might be the key to my next plateau of being somebody it’s a pleasure to listen to instead of just being tolerable because the songs are so good.

That’s all the news I have for now. What lies ahead for the next update? Perhaps a whole bunch of expansions of our music library! Stay tuned!
