For a large portion of the KoHoSo Radio 66 audience, the biggest news is the station’s channel on Roku is working again. It broke due to a coding requirement change on Roku’s side that it did not explain clearly enough for me to realize the channel was in danger. It has now been long enough since the revised version was published that any Roku device should have already updated to the new version. However, if yours is still crashing, do a system update as that will also update channels even if there is no new version of the overall software.
Also on the subject of Roku as this is beginning to become a frequently asked question…due to Live365 licensing restrictions, the KoHoSo Radio 66 channel on Roku is still only available in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. I will not be able to open it up to other countries until Live365 makes the necessary deals with their licensing organizations. This is a very difficult thing for Live365 to do without having to make huge rate increases to its station owners like me so please have extreme patience if you are still waiting.
In news that affects all of you that enjoy KoHoSo Radio 66, the station is now "broadcasting" from its new server. The only bummer is its new operating system, Windows Server 2019, will require me to reboot more often for updates. Keep an ear out for my announcement when a reboot is coming so you don’t mistake the cut-offs for a serious technical issue. Reboots will usually come late at night U.S. Time.
The main reason I have not been in here to make a blog post is, despite everything that has happened since COVID-19 arrived in the United States, my real job has kept me extremely busy. I along with Miss KoKo are "essential" workers and we have actually had more to do than ever even though we’re not in the medical field. Believe me, we count ourselves very lucky that we not only kept our jobs but have done so in about as safe of an environment as one could wish for right now…and, not that I am in any way bragging but we do this while both Miss KoKo and I are at high risk if we become infected. So, wear your damn masks when you’re out in public! You never know…the lives you save could be ours or of somebody else that is high risk and doesn’t even know it.
I also bring up COVID-19 because the many stay-at-home orders have brought more listeners to KoHoSo Radio 66 than it has ever had. With many people taking time off (willingly or not), I have also been receiving more messages about the station than ever before. Even the ones telling me the Roku channel was broken all came with great compliments for the music I play.
Whether you have written to me or not, I still see you when I look at the station’s stats. Just listening to KoHoSo Radio 66 is more appreciated than you will ever know. No matter who you are, where you live, and how much you get to listen, I treasure the time you spend with my station. I’m so thankful you choose KoHoSo Radio 66 over the tens of thousands of other things you could be doing to fill your ears.
Over and above that, I wish you all continuing good health. Even more than listening to KoHoSo Radio 66, please listen to the true, experienced, trustworthy medical sources and follow what they say. I want you, your family, and friends around for a long, long time. Every day they are with you is precious and not a single one should be wasted or spent in needless suffering.
